Lois' own story: Lois (we never used the Ada) graduated fro m Adel High School in 1927 the year the folks moved north o f Dallas Center. She worked for her board and room and $ 2 a week the last two years of high school. At Dallas Cente r, the family attended the Church of the Brethren where sh e met her future husband. Emory Robinson came to Iowa fro m Franklin Co., PA the summer of 1929. His uncle, Clarenc e Gehr, got him a job in the harvest fields at $1.00 a day . He went to theChurch of the Brethren (his mother was Bre thren and had a Brethren background) and attended youth par ties where he met and took a shine to Lois. One Sunday afte r church the Messamer girls and others were standing on th e church steps talking and waiting for their parents. Emor y and his friend, Earl Zuck, were out in the yeard and Emor y said to Earl "get me a date with that blonde Messamer gir l." Earl thought he meant Lucille but Emory said, "No, th e one with the long hair." Soit was arranged and they doub le dated a few times. Emory had no car so it wasn't easy t o get dates. Lois was working doing housework and moved t o Osceola with the folks in 1930. She worked quite a lot fo r Ellie Sehman west of Dallas Center and so was in Dallas C enter area alot.
